Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is dedicated to pedagogy, research and experiential learning that pushes the boundaries of the highest standards of excellence, turning knowledge into solutions for local, national, and global communities. Treating others with dignity and respect and preparing students to become productive members of society and good citizens of the world has been woven into our fabric since our founding in 1766. Discrimination, including sexual harassment and physical sexual misconduct, is not tolerated.
The U.S. Department of Education and its Office for Civil Rights (OCR) emphasize the importance of providing all students with an educational environment free from discrimination. The sexual harassment of students, including physical sexual misconduct, interferes with students’ right to receive an education free from discrimination and, in the case of physical sexual misconduct, may be a crime. Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX), and its regulations, prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex and/or gender in educational programs or activities operated by recipients of Federal financial assistance.
Section 106.45(b) of the 2020 Final Title IX Rules require the sharing of “All materials used to train Title IX Coordinators, investigators, decision-makers, and any person who facilitates an informal resolution process. A recipient must make these training materials publicly available on its website, or if the recipient does not maintain a website the recipient must make these materials available upon request for inspection by members of the public.”
